Things I liked on April 22

2009 April 22
by Joshua Blanchard
  • Dean Baker continues his crusade of sarcasm against the Washington Post’s “jihad” against Social Security. See some earlier installments here, here, and here.
  • Despite his acute intelligence, apparently Greg Mankiw is surprised that Obama isn’t following through with his previous liberalish threats against China and NAFTA. He’s not the only one that took rightwing nightmares seriously. Ann Coulter has expressed surprise and delight that Obama is continuing the War on Terror. Many on the Left did not have these fantasies, although they wished they were true. Critics like Noam Chomsky were at pains to point out that Obama would in many ways be continuing historically normal policies, and when it came true, pointed it out immediately. See this fun piece on the topic by the much more attractive activist, Naomi Klein.
  • This post on Faith and Theology about the new “Green Bible” is funny. The First Things article it cites is surely also funny, but a payed subscription is sadly required to view it.
  • The liberal media strikes again. If only they knew they were liberal, they would condemn themselves.
