Top Five People I Want to Punch in the Face
Facebook has a wonderful application, the name of which is the title of this post. I have never liked a Facebook addition until now. Anyway, it was pretty hard for me to come up with the perfect list, but I think I did. Here’s my list, in order:
1) Sean Hannity
2) Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud
3) Rob Bell
4) Bono
It’s hard to come up with the best link for Bono’s name, as there are many. One might be here. Another is surely here, where he poorly masks his nauseating and unrelenting self-righteousness with a conceptually incoherent description of a singer with the aim of ever-so-subtly hinting at his own humility:
I’m a singer. You know what a singer is? Someone with a hole in his heart as big as his ego. When you need 20,000 people screaming your name in order to feel good about your day, you know you’re a singer.
How he manages to simultaneously have a big ego and have a lowly need for 20,000 people to pet his pride is beyond me. Let this be a lesson for my many, many, many readers: Too much false humility yields logical contradictions.
Perhaps you omitted Pat Robertson because of its predictability. You may also want to consider Brian Leiter.
And indeed, that was my inaugural comment, Joshua!
I wouldn’t include Pat Robertson, because he strikes me as too pathetic to be punched in the face. However, Brian Leiter is a good suggestion. He is at least more obnoxious than the king of Saudi Arabia; I don’t know about the others.
